Index ( poker )
1) A number or letter (2 through 10 or J, Q, K, A) in the upper
left-hand and lower right-hand
corner of a card denoting the card's rank. (Some say that the
suit indication--the single spade, heart, club, or diamond--beneath
the number or letter is part of the index).
2) A mark placed on the back of a card by a cheat to indicate
the value of the card.
